Special Guest: Black Peaks
The Smashing Pumpkins are celebrating the release of their new LP, SHINY AND OH SO BRIGHT, VOL. 1 / LP: NO PAST. NO FUTURE. NO SUN, which Q magazine praised with a 4-star review, pointing out its “moments of glorious burning distortion” and called “Silvery Sometimes (Ghosts)” “one of the most resplendent songs of their career. For a band claiming “no past” and “no future,” the present suits them extremely well.”
Recorded at Shangri La Studios with legendary producer Rick Rubin, the LP is the band’s first in over 18 years to feature founding members Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, with longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
Formed in Chicago, IL in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins released their much-heralded debut album Gish in 1991 and exploded into the mainstream with 1993’s 4x multi-platinum Siamese Dream and 1995’s 10x multi-platinum Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. With over 30 million albums sold to date, the GRAMMY®, MTV VMA, and American Music Award winning band remains an influential force in alternative rock.
