Cast of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' defends LGBTQ community during awards show

'RuPaul's Drag Race: All-Stars' has won big at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. The series won the award for Best Competition Series.

Some members of the cast had recorded a video to receive their award as well as to denounce the anti-trans laws in the United States. For example, the state of Tennessee has been trying for some time to pass a law that would ban drag performances within 300 metres of schools, parks or places of worship.

"At this time it’s so important to hear queer and trans stories from queer and trans people, to meet the artists behind the artistry and see the human beings there, so we can have empathy for one another and halt these blatantly bigoted anti-queer, anti-trans legislations," said Jinkx Monsoon, winner of the seventh season of 'All-Stars'.

Jaida Essence Hall also drew attention to the Drag Defense Fund, founded by World of Wonder and MTV, which defends the rights of the LGBTQ community in the US.

On November 9, Jaida Essence Hall, Ginger Minj, Daya Betty, Aquaria, Vanessa Vanjie, Kandy Muse, Bosco and Angeria Paris VanMicheals from "RuPaul's Drag Race" will come to Belgium. This time not at Stadsschouwburg Antwerpen, but for the first time at the Lotto Arena!
