The Smaller Event Venue Next to AFAS Dome

Lotto Arena opened its doors on March 10, 2007, as the result of a public-private partnership between the City of Antwerp and be•at. The project involved an investment of €13 million, of which €6 million was funded by the City of Antwerp in collaboration with the Flemish and European authorities.Lotto Arena marked the final phase of a €25 million investment in the development of the AFAS Dome site, following the renovation of AFAS Dome in 1997, the construction of a new front building in 1999, and the opening of the Hospitality Center in 2005. The Belgian National Lottery signed a ten-year agreement to become the venue’s naming sponsor through its flagship product, Lotto.

Since the opening of Lotto Arena in 2007, the site has evolved into a true event campus in Antwerp. Located next to AFAS Dome and directly connected to both AFAS Dome and the Hospitality Center, Lotto Arena serves as a versatile venue for sports events and more intimate live entertainment.The venue can welcome up to 5,218 spectators for sporting events and up to 8,050 visitors for concerts and shows with a standing floor configuration. During sporting events, a removable sports floor is installed over the concrete base. Among others, basketball club Antwerp Giants made the move to Lotto Arena.

As Belgium’s only mid-sized arena of its kind, Lotto Arena quickly became a fixture on the national event calendar. Top-level sporting events, concerts, and live shows attract more than 350,000 visitors annually. Despite its smaller size, the venue rapidly earned a place in Pollstar’s Top 100 busiest arenas in the world, standing proudly among the industry’s biggest names.
